Have some fun with the embossing paste

Have you seen that we now have embossing paste in the catalogue.  This is a great medium for adding some texture to your projects.  You can even add some ink into the paste to give it a splash of colour before you start creating.

You can create fabulous backgrounds when you use the paste with one of our stencils (stencils are 6×6″).

To learn more about our embossing paste and how versatile this product is, grab a cuppa and watch Brandi tell (and show) you more.

Halloween junkies!

Are you like me and like the end of October?  I put it down to my Celtic roots, yes, I did my DNA with Ancestry.com!  I am more of the Samhain,  and it’s a celebration of the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, and that it is the transition between the seasons which is a bridge to the world of the dead.  As it is nowadays, it is an evening of spooky fun.  But, I like to think that it is a time for those who have gone before to ‘pop in’.

For those that celebrate the event, we have an array of products to enjoy the festivities.  I had to get the cat punch, not just for Halloween mind you.  See the array of supplies here.

It was a no brainer for me though, and I indulged in the bundle, I love the cat stamp, can you see the face?  This is great for punching the cat out onto black paper and stamping the face with some white ink.  A tip – grab some of the ink spots and ink with your favourite colours if you don’t want the big pads, also ideal for taking to crafting days.

Christmas in September

Here is a card that I made with some of the new products launched in the autumn/winter catalogue.  For my preorder, I had ordered the merry music papers, the snowflake sentiments bundle, cheers to the year stamps and year of cheer washi tape (slightly addicted to washi tape, so a must have), and some other products fell into the basket.

For this card, I have used the merry music paper to create a background.  This paper is great as you can sing along while you are crafting!  The green stripe, this is a scrap that I had from the coffee break papers.  I stamped the ‘circle’ with a stamp from the cheers to the year set.  The snowflake, this was cut with a die from the swirly snowflakes thinlits set, the die is a border die and I snipped out the snowflake.  The trim is the very vanilla lace trim. The swirl is cut from a die in the same set in our lovely gold paper.  Then it was simply a case of layering up.

The New Stampin’ Up! seasonal catalogue – Halloween… Christmas… New Year

Hello everyone

As August draws to a close, we see the launch of the new seasonal catalogue on 1 September.  We have coordinated product lines to help you plan your projects.  Kits that have the key components to help you create works of art whether for gifts or some home decorations.  And, of course, we have bundles where you can shop and save.

Here are some of my creations which I hope give you some inspiration.

As for the paper, this is a gorgeous pack of speciality designer series paper with some foiling.  As you can see, I have used it in the cards I have shown above.

Here’s a little sneak peek of the seasonal catalogue

Tutorial exploding box

Ingredients:
3 sheets 12×12″ cardstock to make the box – I used coordinating blues for mine.
1 sheet of cardstock for the lid trimmed down to 7×7″
Patterned paper (raid the scrap box!)
Strong double sided tape, the red sticky tape from SU

Step 1: Trimming
Trim your three sheets of 12×12 as follows:
1 – 8¼ x 8¼”  (21cm square)
2 – 8 5/8 x 8 5/8″  (22cm square)
3 – 9 x 9″ (22.9cm square)

So you have three sheets of cardstock that look like this

Step 2: Scoring

Score sheet 1 (the smallest) at 2.75 and 5.5″ on each side

Score sheet 2 (the middle size) at 2 7/8 and 5.75″ on each side

Finally sheet 3 (the biggest) at 3″ and 6″ (no picture of this one).

Step 3: Cutting
On all the sheets, cut off the corners as shown

Once you’ve trimmed down the sheets, give them a good crease with your bone folder and you can ink the edges and shape the corners if you so wish.

Step 4: layering & sticking

To stick the bits down I have stuck very sticky tape onto the smallest and next sized up on the back.  Stick them down onto the larger piece and you are ready to decorate your box.

Step 5: the lid

Diagonal score at 2.25″ – 3.5″ and 4.75″ and a straight score down from centre at 3.5″ to the middle score mark.

Fold at the 3.5″ crease into the middle on opposite sides

Then fold again into the middle at the 2.25 crease

Next comes to the folding and tucking in. You have to tuck the ‘ears’ under the flap, (if you’ve not done this before you might have to have a bit of trial and error like I did to get them tucked in)

Repeat on the other side and then you should end up with a lid.

Now all you need to do is decorate the insides and the lid too if you want.  I’ve run out of time to finish this off tonight but I hope you can see the effect that the exploding box has.

Happy crafting & may the crafting mojo be with you 🙂
