Come fly with me! Butterfly Gala

This is one set that fell straight into my basket when the demonstrator pre-order went live. The butterfly gala stamp set has a coordinating punch and even better, the stamps and punch are also available as a bundle which you will find in the upcoming Spring/Summer Stampin’ Up! catalogue. You can get the Butterfly Gala photopolymer stamp set and the amazing new butterfly punch, Butterfly Duet with the 10% bundle saving!  The stamp set has 18 different stamps which includes sentiments in pretty fonts. I love it!

Here is a little card that I have made. I have stamped the thank you so very much in blueberry bushel on shimmery white cardstock. The butterflies are stamped with memento black, balmy blue, highland heather and graceful grove. The butterflies are on one stamp so you don't have to worry about placement when it comes to punching, and using the stamps with the stamparatus make stamping a breeze. For some added twinkle I have edged the butterflies with some wink of stella. To finish the card off, I have used some of the ribbon that is in the All My Love Ribbon Combo. The paper is from a free sale-a-bration paper pack, botanical butterfly, that you can choose from the sale-a-bration brochure when you have a qualifying order.

Delicate Butterflies

I just had to share this project with you. It was featured in the Demonstrator magazine and it got a WOW from me. What's so great is that you can create it too. As Stampin' Up! say , just imagine how far you can stretch your imagination as you create eye-catching pieces of art to accent your home, office, craft room, or just about any other space.

For this project, detailed Thinlits dies were used abundantly to create a framed home d├ęcor piece that truly captures the joy of the two lovebirds in this photo.

To duplicate this look, die-cut several butterflies and pop them up on light-coloured Designer Series Paper using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Layer your photo over a different pattern of paper and choose a coordinating sentiment. Embellish with a bit of thread and ribbon and by sponging colour onto some of the butterflies. The details really bring this piece to life. It's certainly something that is really special, and I am sure is a handmade piece that would be lovingly received by the recipient.

Which Ink?

Ink is more than just a pretty face. Each type of ink is designed for a specific purpose, and your projects will look their best if you use the right ink for your technique.

Stampin' Up! have helped out in showing which ink is the best to use in your crafting projects.

When you order your ink pad, add a refill to extend the life of your ink pad.

When you order your Stampin' Blends, add a Memento ink pad to your order as this will prevent smearing. If you plan on doing some watercoloring, then add a Staz-on ink pad. Don't forget your Staz-on cleaner!

Card making - step it up

I made a simple stamping card the other day and today in the crafting cave I've stepped up one of the cards using just a couple more supplies. I've used some of the Sale-a-bration papers (a free choice during Sale-a-bration with an order of £45 or more which begins 3 Jan 2019), botanical butterfly.

For some sparkle, I have added a piece of silver metallic thread and we have a new butterfly punch in the 2019 spring summer catalogue which I have used to punch the butterfly from the paper.

If you want to join in my paper share for a selection of  papers in  the 2019 spring/summer catalogue, register today.

#simplestamping quick cards

Do you think that sometimes you need lots of supplies to get creative?  If you are just starting out crafting, or simply on a crafting budget, here is some #simplestamping

I have used a card base, four ink pads and one stamp set to create these quick cards.

The stamps are in the 2019 Spring/Summer catalogue - Beauty Abounds.  You can order these from 3 January 2019.  It's a lovely set and I have used 4 of the stamps.

For the inks, I used call me clover, soft sea foam, highland heather and memento black.  The card is from the delightfully detailed note cards as the cards in the set have some colouring, but you can use a plain card of course.

You can watch me creating the card (in around a minute!) so this is also speed crafting:

Heart of Stampin' Up! for Autism

Each year we offer a special, limited-time product or promotion dedicated to supporting a designated cause versus a specific charity. The money raised from this limited-time product or promotion is then donated to organisations that supports the cause in North America, the South Pacific, and in Europe.  This year, our employee Heart of Stampin’ Up! recipient, Rett Christensen, proposed making our event theme songs available for purchase and donating the proceeds to Autism organisations. Having a son with Autism, Rett understands how important it is to support the community.  For myself and my family, having a son who is on the Autistic spectrum, it is close to my heart also.

The video is just amazing and really fun to watch! I LOVE the dancing snails!

[video width="1280" height="720" mp4="https://www.esellek.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Love-Live-Share-It-Today-by-Stampin’-Up.mp4" poster="https://www.esellek.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Screenshot-2018-11-18-at-11.27.48.png"][/video]

So thanks to Rett, and a group of other Stampin' Up! employees, you can own a piece of Stampin’ Up! history and make a difference in the lives of those with Autism at the same time!

The songs are available: 13 November – 31 December 2018

There are two options:

  1. Complete Collection of Stampin’ Up! Theme Songs - $15 USD*

  2. Single Love, Live & Share It Today – 30-year anniversary song - $5 USD*

Stampin’ Up! will donate 100 percent of the funds raised to the following Autism organisations: Autism Speaks, Autism Speaks Canada, The National Autistic Society, Autism Europe, Autism New Zealand, Autism Spectrum (ASPECT), and the Japan Autism Society.

*There are NOT country-specific prices for this offering. During the purchasing process, the purchase amount will automatically be converted to local currency, based on current exchange rates (around £12 and £4).

Sprig punch decorations

There are days when I just love to sit down, have a film playing on the iPad and just make things!  I have been using the sprig punch today, this was released in the autumn/winter catalogue and I can't say whether it is being carried over when this catalogue ends in January - although at the moment it is currently on low inventory.  This means that it could become a back ordered item, becomes no longer orderable, retires or discontinued.  So, if you need/want it, you might want to order it!

I've punched out several and then arranged them on a punched circle (starburst).  So that you don't have a messy bunch of springs, I punched another circle and glued this on top.  I then added my sentiment (from Timeless Tidings) onto a smaller punched circle.  I used a piece of the black glittered organdy ribbon so I could use it as a hanging decoration.

I hope you like it and it inspires you to get crafting.

Supplies:

Sprig punch (autumn winter catalogue)
Starburst circle punch (annual catalogue)
1.75" circle punch (annual catalogue)
Timeless tidings stamp set (autumn winter catalogue)
Black glitter organdy ribbon (autumn winter catalogue)
Tear & tape adhesive (current catalogue)
Multipurpose liquid glue (current catalogue)

Convert your Stampin' Up! clear mount stamps to cling stamps

At On Stage we had the news that we will be having cling mount stamps.  When you see the new spring summer catalogue you will notice that stamps are either cling or polymer.  If you haven't come across cling mount stamps, these stick like crazy to your stamping block and you do need to be careful when removing them so you don't rip the foam.

Stampin' Up! cling stamps

I was lucky to receive a free stamp set at On Stage and these are the new cling mount.  Not wanting to be wasteful, I am utilising the remnants of my stamp stickers to change my current clear mount stamps to cling.  This is really easy, a bit fiddly, but worth the effort.

Stampin' Up! itty bitty birthdays

As with our other stamps, you get the sheet that you peel off the stickers to attach to your stamp.  The thing with the new cling stamps is that with the waste, you can utilise this to make your clear mount, cling.  I have gone through and 'mounted' up my stamps and with the left overs I have made some of the stamps in my fairy celebration stamp set, cling!  Sometimes you are not going to get a big enough piece to cover your whole stamp, but you can use strips to add to your current clear mount stamps.

Here's how I converted my stamps:

You want to have the shiny side of the waste face up, taking your cling mount stamp, place this face down onto the waste (the red rubber should be looking at you).

Stampin up convert clear mount to cling mount stamps

Draw around the stamp so you have your outline and then cut this from the waste.

Stampin up convert clear mount to cling mount stamps

Once you have cut the shape, peel off the backing paper (not the glossy side) from the piece so you have a sticky side and the glossy side, and place your stamp onto this piece.

Next, and this can be fiddly, remove the glossy piece.  I found my take my pick tool very handy for this with the flat part, or use your pokey tool.

Stampin up convert clear mount to cling mount stamps

And, ta-dah.  One very clingy, clear mount stamp!

Stampin up convert clear mount to cling mount stamps

I hope everything was easy to follow.  I would have done a video for this but I don't think you would appreciate a man-child in the background who is not very quiet at the moment!  The new cling mount stamps make their debut in the spring/summer catalogue which is released on 3 January 2019.  Get in touch if you need a copy.

A little Tropic Gift Box

I love making boxes and have little spurts of making them.  Today, I've made this one.  I hope you like it.

Gift box

Once I put in the body wash, I closed the top using a piece of cardstock punched out using the circle tab punch.  I then punched some circles and the sentiment is from a new set (released January 2019) called itty Bitty Birthdays.

[caption id="attachment_10771" align="aligncenter" width="399"]  [/caption]

The size and scoring for this box are:

Cardstock: 6.5" x 7".

Score along the long edge at ½" - 2.5" - 3.5" and 5.5"

Then along the short edge, 1"

Then snip up from the bottom to the 1" score line.

I have done a little template - not to scale which I hope you find useful.  The hatched area is cut out.  I have marked where to put the glue on the side strip, but this does depend on the way that you fold your box, so you will stick the glue on the part that you will stick to the inside of the box.

Scrapbooking New York City #3

Another couple of layouts of my scrapbooking of the trip to New York City with Genny.  We had a 7+ hour flight from Heathrow to Newark, NJ and after getting our luggage we headed to the shuttle I had booked.  I had toyed with the idea of the transit but went for a shuttle, plus I managed to book using TopCashback which was a result!  We headed out from NJ with some other travellers who were dropped off at their various hotels and we were the last stop.  We settled in to the room and checked out the view.  It wasn't much but we were in NYC!

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/45526246441/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

We stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham, W 35th St, in the garment district.  We were up on the 17th floor and had a great room which suited our needs.  We were close to links to get the subway and also close to other sights, the Empire State Building just a few blocks away and Macy's at the 'bottom of the road'.  We had a bit of a rest and then headed out into the unknown!

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/45475741062/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

For these layouts I have used the broadway bound and best route papers and also some of the cards in the best route memories and more card pack.  I'm also loving the galvanised clips which have been used also.

I've still got lots of photos to get through!

Quick crafting with Timeless Tidings & the Stamparatus

Don't you just love having the tools to do a job.  I am working through the Timeless Tidings kit and getting the sentiments where I want them has been helped with the stamparatus.

I was lining up my stamp for the 'merry christmas' and really wanted the sentiment to be consistent with the cards.  The  stamparatus has saved the day, it is great help when you want to do bulk stamping.  I was stamping onto the die cuts that form part of the kit and this is a nifty trick as I used the die cut sheet as a template.

I lined up my 'merry christmas' onto the die cut.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/44532996585/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

Pick the stamp up with the clear plate.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/45447780511/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

Ink the stamp and then, stamp.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/44532995825/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/45447778811/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

I then took the die cut out out of the sheet, carefully as I didn't want to move the sheet, and moved the die cut below up one.  When using the magnets, make sure you don't get them too close, they are very strong.  I have just used the one magnet as it did the job.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/44532994525/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

I did the same with the sentiment I wanted on the circle.  No lining up by eye each time, I simply stamped and then replaced the diet cut with the next one.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/45395825232/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

Now I have a nice pile of stamped sentiments that took no time at all to stamp.  Just another thing, if you haven't done a good stamp impression, simply re-ink the stamp and stamp again.

Broadway bound

I do scrapbook and enjoy scrapbooking when I get the chance.  The pictures arrived of 'the trip' and despite it being late in the day for me, I couldn't resist getting started.  It was the moment when you tell your daughter, at the airport, having asked if she could find the flight check in and she couldn't, that you let on that you had been telling fibs for several months and that she wasn't going to Paris.  I had said she would go up a tall building, on a river and see Vincent van Gogh, not quite in Paris though, but in New York City.  It did sink in eventually that she was going the other way around the planet and that the flight was 7+ hours and not a couple!

Here is layout number 1.

I've used the broadway bound papers and just done some matting and that's it for this layout.  I just wanted this to be clean and simple.  I'll be wading through the other photos to create the memories of this trip.

Timeless Tidings Project Kit by Stampin' Up!

Having thumb issues at the moment means going easy and typing without trying to use the right thumb is interesting, you don't realise how many times you need it!  Also, holding things is a bit iffy right now, so, to help with limiting the use of said thumb, I have got out my timeless tidings project kit.  With pre-cut elements and just needing to stick and do a little bit of stamping, my love of crafting can go on!

I love this kit, it is full of nice things.  What with the gold edged envelopes and gold die cuts, this is shiny heaven!

Stampin Up timeless tidings project kit

If you are worried about just being sent a project kit and left to 'get on with it', Stampin' Up! help you out and the kit comes complete with a leaflet with directions on assembling each card.  You don't have to follow these and can of course do your own thing.  The kit doesn't come with a stamp set but there is a coordinating set available in both clear mount and wood mount.

Watch this product presentation from Home Office for a closer look at the project kit.

[embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX6Xj1s_TwU&feature=youtu.be[/embed]

A great idea that Stampin' Up! had was to add some guide lines to some of the cards, very handy if you are not very good at lining things up straight!

I hope you love the project kit as much as me and are inspired to get crafting.

Stampin' Up! fancy fold stable door card

I've no idea of the actual name for this type of card, it's one I've seen on my crafting travels.  To me it's kind of like a stable door, although the top opens upwards!  Maybe it should be cat flap or something.  This is how I've made it using some of the Stampin' Up! Memories and More cards.

One sheet of cardstock trimmed, and scored as follows:

One piece trimmed to 10" x 4", score at 6"

One price trimmed to 7" x 2" - score at 1.5" at each end

Place glue on the centre of the 7x2" strip and adhere this to the back of the main card.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/45110371292/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

I then decorated the card using the Memories and More Santa's Workshop card pack and some paper from the all is bright pack.  This is the outside.

[embed]https://www.flickr.com/photos/27865705@N04/44442541744/in/dateposted-public/[/embed]

And inside, I used one of the full sized cards from the memories and more pack.

I hope this inspires you to get crafting.

Pinwheel card using the Stampin' Up! envelope punch board

It's been a while, I've had my head in the law books and done some intermittent crafting but thought I'd get something made that I've wanted to try for a while.  Here is a pinwheel card and I have used the envelope punch board and the score board to make this.

I've made a pinwheel card that is 4" square and for this you need an 8" square of paper.  Just a note, you are not going to be punching using the envelope punch board, just using it as your diagonal scoring tool.

Line your paper up at the 3.5" mark and score.

Rotate your paper and as we are not making an envelope, you line your paper at the 3.5" mark and then score. Repeat for all sides and you should end up with your paper looking like this.

Next, cut away the 'triangles'.

Now using the score board, you create your 'flaps' and I found the best way to do this was to score upwards from the point of the cut away triangle.

Turn your paper over and then fold over the flaps.

Finally, with the paper face down (ie on this sheet, the spots were face down), you then fold over the 'envelope' edges and tuck in the folds.  You can use it as an envelope or turn it into a card itself, simply create an insert (4" square for this card).

Have fun, if you make one do share.  Here's the inside of mine.

Stampin' Up! Sale - world card making day 2018

The last day of September is here, not only is it the day before my birthday, but it is also the last day of the Stampin' Up! year.  And what a September it has been, it has been very busy to say the least.  I had a trip over to Belfast which was a double trip.  I went over with Genny to visit Queens University and stayed with my brother and his family - that was a great weekend. Who would have thought that you'd come back from a university open day with a stick of rock!

Then, the following week, it was up in the air again.  This was a trip with a twist.  Since January Genny thought she was going to Paris for her 18th birthday trip.  Well, I had been lying through my teeth, although I did say she would go see a high building, go on a boat on a river and see Vincent Van Gogh.  It's just that it was in New York! We did the high building (Empire State), went on the river (Hudson to Liberty) and saw Vincent (at The Met).  We had the most amazing time, had to buy another suitcase which was a quick trip into Macy's on the morning we came back!  I definitely need to go back, for longer so I can space out the amount of time that my feet can recuperate!

Now it's calmed down somewhat, I am also delighted and with a big thank you to my customers, that your orders toppled me over the edge and I hit Silver :)  Stampin' Up! has a level system and my sales for the 2017-18 Stampin' Up! year put me into the silver level, and I must also give a big thank you to my team mates which add to the promotion as without them also, I wouldn't have achieved the silver level.  I get a lovely necklace and also some 'points' as a reward (points = can get some freebies!).

Now onto some more things that are happening from 1 October.  As you saw in the header, we have world cardmaking day.  To celebrate this and to help you to craft for less, we have the world card making day sale which runs through to 7 October 2018.  We have a select number of products that have a discount, some of the products are also available in French or German.  You can see all the products here on the flyer with their discounted prices.  But here are some of the products for you to see what's available.  Visit my website, www.sarahkeerie.stampinup.net on 1 October to order your supplies.  As a scrapbooker as well as a card maker, I'll be stocking up on the cardstock and I do love the tear & tape and the time has come to grab the stamp set with that typewriter!
