Create your own embossing powder effect

This is a quick post and something I want to share with you, it's therefore off the cuff so to speak!  If you find you want to create an embossed effect but you don't have the colour embossing powder, here is a cool trick using the stamparatus to help you with your stamp placement.

As well as your ink pad, you will need the versamark ink pad, clear embossing powder and of course don't forget your heat tool!  I'm not a pro when it comes to videos, so apologies for any odd shots!

Of course, if you are using a one step ink pad, you would simply wipe your stamp clean whilst keeping it on the stamparatus and then re-ink using the versamark.

New to paper crafting?

Have you just found the joy of paper crafting and have no idea where to start with your supplies?  I know when I started online shopping it was a case of being big eyed in a sweet shop!  Boy did my shopping basket get filled quick.  Everything was in front of me and I wanted it all, not that I knew what I would do with it!  It got so big that I even opened my own shop (for anyone that knows me, will know that I owned The Scraporium).  I still get big eyed and when the new Stampin' Up! catalogue is released I have so many post-its on pages that I now just make a list (or two, well maybe three).

Envelope Punch Board - mini envelope for gifts

Hello, today I am showing you a little gift envelope that you can create and showcasing the Share What You Love product suite.  The paper itself is just one of the gorgeous products that are in the suite, and what you can't see in the picture below is that some of the papers have a pearlescent effect.

Share what you love paper

To create my gift envelope, I have taken a sheet of the paper and trimmed it down to 15 x 15cm (6x6" in old money!).

I have trimmed another strip which measures 22cm by 3cm and then scored at each end at 6cm.  This creates the 'belly band'.

Using your envelope punch board, line up your piece of square DSP at  the 3" mark.  You then score, and punch.

You then rotate your paper and are going to score and punch again, however, this time you are NOT lining your paper up at the 3" mark.  For the next steps, you will see on the punch board that the punching button has a small pointy bit, this is where you line up the scored line.

Once you have scored and punched all the sides, you should end up with your paper looking like the one below.

The punch board has the facility to round one of the corners, to give it the envelope feel. So, pick a corner and give it a punch.

The next step is to create your belly band and I've used various elements to decorate mine.  You can be as creative as you want with this step.  Leave it plain or go all out!

Here is my finished band. I've used letters from the make a difference stamp set to create my sentiment and then layered up the pieces that you can see in the above picture.  I used two of the bigger pieces of the half doilie, and finished off the decoration with some of the pearls.  You then simply pop your band over the envelope.  It is slightly loose so you can put something a bit bulkier into the envelope.  Have a play and see what you can create.
