Halloween junkies!

Are you like me and like the end of October?  I put it down to my Celtic roots, yes, I did my DNA with Ancestry.com!  I am more of the Samhain,  and it’s a celebration of the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, and that it is the transition between the seasons which is a bridge to the world of the dead.  As it is nowadays, it is an evening of spooky fun.  But, I like to think that it is a time for those who have gone before to ‘pop in’.

For those that celebrate the event, we have an array of products to enjoy the festivities.  I had to get the cat punch, not just for Halloween mind you.  See the array of supplies here.

It was a no brainer for me though, and I indulged in the bundle, I love the cat stamp, can you see the face?  This is great for punching the cat out onto black paper and stamping the face with some white ink.  A tip – grab some of the ink spots and ink with your favourite colours if you don’t want the big pads, also ideal for taking to crafting days.

Christmas in September

Here is a card that I made with some of the new products launched in the autumn/winter catalogue.  For my preorder, I had ordered the merry music papers, the snowflake sentiments bundle, cheers to the year stamps and year of cheer washi tape (slightly addicted to washi tape, so a must have), and some other products fell into the basket.

For this card, I have used the merry music paper to create a background.  This paper is great as you can sing along while you are crafting!  The green stripe, this is a scrap that I had from the coffee break papers.  I stamped the ‘circle’ with a stamp from the cheers to the year set.  The snowflake, this was cut with a die from the swirly snowflakes thinlits set, the die is a border die and I snipped out the snowflake.  The trim is the very vanilla lace trim. The swirl is cut from a die in the same set in our lovely gold paper.  Then it was simply a case of layering up.

2017-2018 Annual Catalogue June Blog Hop

Wow, have you seen the new annual catalogue?  It is full of great products and my one long list turned into three lists of various stages of “need it”!  To share the catalogue and give you some ideas, I have joined in the team blog hop – see the links at the bottom of the post and have some fun hopping along with us.  As demonstrators, we love to share ideas and hopefully get your mojo fired up. {If you are mid hop, I hope you enjoyed seeing what Rebecca shared with you and admired her fantastic projects}.

From list one, the ‘had to have it now’, I am showcasing you the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set and Happy Birthday framelits.  Check the product list at the bottom of this post to see what I have used.

For this card, I have used some of the new daisy paper and punched a daisy out from the paper I used for my other card (below).  The balloons are stamped using the tranquil tide ink and some metallic thread ‘ties’ them up.  I had to get the glimmer paper out and die cut the happy birthday!  Some of the new in-colour ribbon adds a spurt of colour.

For this next card, I have stamped the sentiment using one of the stamps from the set.  I love the paper with the little cameras and for the happy birthday, this is using our gold paper.  The sentiment is printed on a piece of white cardstock from my scrap box.  One of those crafting things of not throwing away scraps.  The paper is from one sheet, it’s great that these are double sided.

This is the die in a close up!

Follow the hop and check out my team mates and see their creations.  Be inspired 🙂  If you are starting with me, next up are Sandra’s great creations, have fun 🙂

Eastern Promise meets glitter

Hello dear reader, as you may have guessed, being a demonstrator means you get to have some demo perks. I have therefore been having a great time with the early release of the Eastern Promise – coming soon to you in two great bundles.  Once the new catalogue comes out on 1 June, the bundles will disappear.  So, if you like great value, visit my store on 1 May!

I’ve made two cards using some of the new in-colours.  The card base is using the current dapper denim, the purple is the new fresh fig and the other two new colours lemon lime twist and powder pink.

We have some wonderful new framelits, I have used some of them with the stitched circles.  And I am not sure if you can see it, but there is some silver glimmer paper as well.  The sentiment is from the fairy celebration stamp set (not retiring!).  I hope you like them.

Card making – pop up panel card

I’ve seen the pop up cards popping up over recent months and having watched some videos, I like step by step with pictures! These are great and (hopefully) a nice surprise for the recipient when they open their card.

What you need:

Step 1. Inside mechanism – cardstock measuring 20m x 9cm – Scored in half lengthways

Measure at 5.5 and 14.5cm on each of the long edges and then score the 5.5 cm to the 14.5cm mark – creating an ‘x”.  Give the score lines a crease using your bone folder.

Take the right edged over along the score line and do the same with the left.

You should then be able to easily bring your folds together, and end up with this

Step 2, you need a piece of cardstock measuring 9 x 26cm

Using a pencil, place 3 pencil marks at 6.5, 13.5 and 19.5cm along each long edge and then score and crease (so you end up with a W shape).

Step 3, cardstock = 10 x 30cm (this is your card front and back), scored in the middle (fold in half!) and place a pencil mark in the fold at 5cm

Decorate your step 2 cardstock.Decorate your step 3 cardstock on the inside and then the fold (step 1) goes in.

Put some really sticky glue/red tape on the triangle of one side first, and line up the point with your pencil mark and press down.  Put glue on the triangle left and stick this down (simply fold the card) and hold down for a bit.

You should end up with  this:

Open up your card and mark the centre at 5cm as shown.

Line up the centre  of the 4-fold card to the centre mark you have just made and fold over each of the edges, and then glue the upper half of the right hand side ABOVE the score line and on the left glue on the BOTTOM of the score line.

Cross your fingers, fold your card and it should fold in nicely.  Then all you need to do now is finish decorating.

All being well, if the instructions work for you as they do in my head, you will have a super little popping card!  The one I made along side this tutorial is now with the recipient so here is a picture of the finished card front.
